Blog #34 Practice Lead #3

Welcome back readers. In todays blog finishing up our lead practice series I will be linking another practice lead I have completed below. This specific lead practice is a direct quote lead, including my notes on the article and a title I used to describe my lead.

Is the Circus really a “Circus”?

- Thomas works for Parker Bros. Circus

- he is a laborer who helps care for the animals at the circus

- the circus job is not all it is talked up to be, and is just a simple job like any other

- when he had an injury, he stayed working for the circus because of the comfortability he has towards it

- even the elephants don’t hate the mice it’s a misconception

               - Direct Quote Lead

There have been many misconceptions about the Circus, its glamour and its impact on the animals and workers. The circus is a tight community and usually follows generations. Thomas J. Serle, who was born into the circus life not only experiences the silliness of his “wise” elephants but the hardships of injury. Thomas essentially attributes the magic of the circus to the people like himself who dedicate years and generations to the circus magic, the animals do half the work. Serle even says “Hell, some of the ones we got are so dumb they can't remember a simple trick from one year to the next."
